Yes, this is our third term at JG. Both K and I love this place due to a combination of factors. We are definitely enjoying this term more since K is the oldest and most seasoned in class.
If you ask me if the class will make him more intellectual, I doubt so. So the reason why I send K there? He needs the social interaction since he’s the only child at home. And instead of sending him to an indoor playground with only toys, I would very much prefer the educational version.
There are a couple of good habits which he picked up.
1. He keeps his toys after play and put them back where he took them from.
2. He clears his own utensils after his meals.
3. He disposes his own diapers after each changing and he put his dirty clothes in the basin.

Having attended a few other trial classes elsewhere, there are really a few other plus points about JG which I would like to share.
1. The tables and chairs are kept aside and only set up when required (i.e. during art and craft & meal times). This is really essential as they can be quite distracting.
2. The story book they read during each session is a big book. Some centres cut cost by using a small book, which the kids can hardly see let alone be engaged.
3. The toys that they play during the warm-up session are pretty good toys. They rotate the toys and include a variety such as Melissa & Doug (one of my fav brands) felt food, shape sorters etc. While some of these toys look like they need to be replaced, they are overall still in a good condition. And they take into the learning needs of babies such as sensory play.
4. The teacher is really loving and considerate. I appreciate her little actions such as asking the parents to ensure that their kids are seated and not blocking the views of those behind.
5. They provide really useful handouts. In the term booklet, they will provide a handout of recommended activities to do with the kids at home. This could be an extension of the activities already done in class. In addition, they do provide ‘recipes’ such as how to make dough etc.
6. Lastly, they have a library! I am delighted to find books written by Eric Carle, Dr Suess etc there. I take the opportunity to browse there and purchase online thereafter. Haha! However, the board books are pretty limited and we only get to borrow 1 book each time. There is this corner in the library which provides activity sheets for the children to work on. It’s pretty convenient for the older kids to just drop by and work on them. I wish there was something suitable for the younger ones though. They do provide a recommended booklist based on age and themes too. I find that pretty useful.
All in all, we truly enjoy our experience at JG. And after this term, we will definitely be back for the Bilingual Playclub next term.
